macOS
- Select the Apple menu and open System Settings
- In the “Search” field type “Printers”
- Select “Printers & Scanners”
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax…”
- Navigate to the “IP” tab and enter the following information:
- Address: The printer’s full hostname (on label or provided by EdTech)
- Protocol: “HP JetDirect - Socket”
- Queue: Ignore
- Name: Any name you wish to use to remember this printer
- Location: Optional
- Use: Select the correct driver; leave as “Generic PostScript Printer” if unavailable
- Press “Add” to add the printer
Windows
- Select the Start menu and open Settings
- Navigate to “Bluetooth & devices”, then open “Printers & scanners”
- Click “Add device”, wait a few moments, then press “Add a new device manually”
- Select “Add a printer using an IP address or hostname”, then press “Next”
- Enter the following information:
- Device type: “IPP Device”
- Hostname or IP address: The printer’s full hostname (on label or provided by EdTech)
- Press “Next” to add the printer
- The system should automatically find the appropriate driver to use for the device
